The ‘Newborn Nine’ Bitcoin ETFs own nearly $3 billion in BTC

Hình ảnh
Newborn Nine is how the ETF expert Eric Balchunas calls 9 of the 10 recently approved Bitcoin ETFs. These are competitors of the pioneer Grayscale Bitcoin Trust (GBTC), experiencing a capital outflow partially distributed to the Newborn. Notably, GBTC has lost a total of $1.62 billion worth of spot Bitcoin shares in the first four days. In the meantime, the Newborn Nine had an inflow of $2.87 billion , resulting in a $1.24 billion net flow to Bitcoin ETFs after the historic approval on January 10. Eric Balchunas shared this data from Bloomberg on X (formerly Twitter) on January 18. In the post, Balchunas further explained inflows happen amid increased demand for ETF shares. This requires Authorized Participants (AP) to make more shares and purchase the corresponding amount of Bitcoin (BTC). Interestingly, BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) is the largest fund, excluding Grayscale, with $1.08 billion in total inflows. Fidelity’s FBTC holds the second position among the New...

Michael Saylor would be up $2.5 billion if he chose Ethereum over Bitcoin

Hình ảnh
Three years into the bold ‘Bitcoin Initiative’ by MicroStrategy co-founder Michael Saylor, which has seen his company steadily purchasing Bitcoin (BTC) and currently ‘hodling’ close to 160,000 units, it looks like betting on Ethereum (ETH) instead would have been more profitable. In fact, if MicroStrategy had bought Ethereum instead of Bitcoin, the company would have been $2.5 billion in profit instead of around $400 million in a loss at press time, according to the Analysis by Bitcoin Rainbow Chart creator Holger Rohm, a.k.a. rohmeo.eth shared on October 9. On top of that, the cryptocurrency analyst pointed out that the company would have held 11% of staked Ethereum (if staked) and would have earned “way more from staking than their core business does,” according to the data retrieved from BlockchainCenter.net . Hình ảnh
Bitcoin proponents called it the start of another bull run, while a few other analysts believe it's a bear trap. The Bitcoin (BTC) price rose to a new six-month high of $24,800 on February 16, registering a double-digit surge of 15%.  The prolific single-day Bitcoin price surge took many by surprise, given February has been historically bearish for the top cryptocurrency. BTC price rose by $1,820 in a single day, making it the biggest green day for the top cryptocurrency in six months. One-Day Bitcoin price chart. Source: Tradingview Many people attributed the BTC price surge to a number of factors, including a rise in dollar value and declining inflation. On-chain data indicates the current price momentum can be traced back to a mysterious fund that started pouring money into the crypto market on Feb. 10. According to data shared by Lookonchain, nearly $1.6 billion in institutional funds have flowed into the crypto market over the past six days. The majority of the $1.6 billion...
