Bitcoin Ordinals and Inscriptions Impact on Miner Revenue as Halving Nears

Hình ảnh
This year, Bitcoin ordinals and inscriptions have significantly impacted block space utilization, bolstering miner revenue through increased transaction fees. However, miners face challenges on the horizon as the impending halving event approaches. Since their introduction in February 2023, inscriptions have actively participated in the cryptocurrency ecosystem, buying up block space and filling the mempool. They have primarily occupied the remaining space after higher-value monetary transfers. Despite their contribution to transaction fees, analytics provider Glassnode reported that the number of pending transactions in its mempool has notably increased since May. Most of these unconfirmed transactions have a minimal data footprint. Inscriptions are sensitive to absolute fee amounts and can be displaced by more urgent monetary transfers. Glassnode pointed out that the surge in text-based inscriptions aligns with the rise in pending transactions, confirming that these compact inscr...

Bitcoin “Golden Cross” Confirmed – What Next for BTC Price?

Hình ảnh
An important technical event just occurred in the Bitcoin market. For the first time in more than a year, Bitcoin’s 50-Day Simple Moving Average (SMA), now at $19,825 just moved to the north of its 200-Day SMA, now at $19,723. When the 50-Day SMA moves above the 200-Day SMA, technicians refer to this as a “golden cross” – a sign that there has been a meaningful positive shift in the market’s momentum. Tuesday’s golden cross is only Bitcoin’s seventh in the last 10 years. Some analysts see a golden cross as a buy signal, or at least include it in the suite of technical and other indicators that they monitor when making trading decisions. Both the 50 and 200-Day SMAs are widely followed technical indicators by investors, hence a golden cross could potentially lead to higher buying pressure in the Bitcoin market, should it encourage more buyers to enter the market. What Next For Bitcoin After the Golden Cross? With the golden cr...

Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz said that, since the ruling, the authorities seized $33,500 from digital wallets linked to the militant group Hamas. US Senator Sherrod Brown said on Sunday that US federal agencies must address the cryptocurrency market and “maybe” ban it after the FTX exchange collapse, per NBC. “Maybe banning it, although banning it is very difficult because it will go offshore and who knows how that will work. So this is a complicated, unregulated pot of money in so many ways,” Brown s...

Bitcoin Infrastructure Firm Blockstream Seeks Fresh Funds at 70% Lower Valuation Than in 2021

Dr. Adam Back. Source: video screenshot/YouTube The Bitcoin-focused development and infrastructure firm Blockstream is seeking fresh funds at a valuation that “may be below $1 billion,” or about 70% lower than its most recent funding round in 2021, according to a Bloomberg report. Blockstream’s valuation has likely been impacted by the collapse of crypto exchange FTX, as well as the generally bearish sentiment in the bitcoin and crypto markets, the report said, citing “people familiar with the matter.” Valued at $3.2bn in 2021 The firm, which is led by the Bitcoin pioneer and cryptographer Adam Back, was valued at $3.2bn during its latest funding round last year, when it raised $210m from a number of prominent companies. Among them was the major asset manager Baillie Gifford, and iFinex, the company behind crypto exchange Bitfinex and stablecoin issuer Tether. Asked by Bloomberg about the size of the funding round, Back reportedly declin...

Bitcoin Price Prediction as BTC Falls Below $17,000 – How Low Can it Go?

Hình ảnh
The BTC/USD pair is trading sideways, maintaining a narrow range of $16,750 to $16,900 on December 8, but Bitcoin price prediction remains bearish following the breakout of an upward channel.   Bitcoin has dropped 75% this year from its previous high of $69,000. However, the cause of these massive drops could be attributed to various factors.  Recently, everything has negatively impacted the cryptocurrency market, contributing to losses in the world's largest cryptocurrency, Bitcoin, whether it's the dramatic collapse of FTX or increasing selling pressure as whales reduce their inflow volumes. Aside from the FTX collapse, BTC declines could be attributed to the miner capitulation risk continuing to haunt traders looking to enter long positions. Furthermore, according to ClimateTech Vice Chair Daniel Batten, nearly 29 mining companies account for 16.48% of the entire Bitcoin (BTC) network and use 90% to 100% renewable energy. Thereby, the BTC price...

On December 6, Bitcoin, the leading cryptocurrency, gave up most of its gains, having lost nearly 2% to trade at the $16,980 level. Most of the selling trends in the crypto market could be associated with a stronger US dollar. Interest rate speculation increased on Monday after a US services index indicated the economy was holding steady. Following news that the Institute for Supply Management's gauge of services increased unexpectedly in November, the Bloomberg Dollar Spot Index rose by as much as 0.8%, snapping a four-day losing streak. Ethereum, the second-most valuable cryptocurrency, has lost ground and slipped under $1,300 psychological trading levels.  Major cryptocurrencies were trading in the green early on December 6, even though the global crypto market cap had dropped 0.86% to $856.36 billion on the previous day. Japanese Government Set to Adopt FATF Crypto AML Guidelines into National Law

Hình ảnh
Source: Polkadot/Adobe The Japanese government is preparing to enshrine the Financial Action Task Force (FATF)’s crypto anti-money laundering (AML) guidelines into the legal code – after the country’s parliament voted in favor of the measure. NHK reported that MPs voted for the Revised Act on Prevention of Transfer of Criminal Proceeds in a vote late on Friday at a plenary session of the House of Councilors.  They also voted in favor of amendments to six existing laws, including the Act on Prevention of Transfer of Criminal Proceeds, the Act on Punishment of Organized Crimes, and the Act on Freezing International Terrorist Assets.  Many of these will build in crypto-specific wording to the terms of the acts – as per the FATF’s recommendations to the countries it regulates. The measures will boost the statutory penalties for crimes related to money laundering. They will allow law enforcers to freeze assets held on domestic platf...
